Our Toddler-2 Room is designed for 8 children ranging in ages 1-2+ years old with a 1:4 teacher to child ratio. Each child has their own cubby for storage of personal items. They also have a designated space near the changing table, for storage of diapers, wipes and ointments. There is an 8 seat table where the children eat and/or are assisted in eating by a teacher, do arts and crafts, as well as other educational activities. A sink is located in the room for handwashing before and after eating, diaper changes, as well as when needed. Children in this room have access to the bathroom in the Toddler-1 room, if needed, and when potty training. Each child has their own cot that is used only by them during naptime. This room is also equipped with its own microwave to make heating up lunches a quicker process. The walls are the perfect canvas for us to display the children’s artwork.
Toddler-2 Is set up into different “learning centers”. At this age the children’s abilities and skills are developing fast, and we provide just the right toys and learning areas to support that. Some of these centers include a housekeeping area filled with child sized furniture, food, and other household items, a block area for children to stack and build, as well as several activity tables where we rotate different toys to keep their interest. Other toys in this room include puzzles, ride on toys, and push and pull toys. Our toy animals and people are well used in the toy barn and castle. And of course, there are always construction toys, dolls, and musical instruments. Electronic learning toys are introduced in this room to prepare the children for our technological world. We also have a variety of manipulative toys such as gears and connecting tubes to help children with their fine motor skills.
