The objective of our infant and toddler programs is to provide an exciting, safe environment that is reinforced with love, encouragement and praise.

Scotty’s boasts four different toddler rooms that progress by age until the children reach 3 yrs old. Each room maintains a 1:4 teacher to child ratio with a group size no larger than 8. The rooms are designed to accommodate the children’s needs and encourage each age’s skill sets and milestones.

Our Toddler 1 Room is our first toddler room at Scotty’s. When the children become fairly mobile usually between 8-13 months of age, they move up to our Toddler 1 room.

The room is designed for “little movers” with plenty of space to move, climb, and explore. The children have stackable toys, puzzles, electronic learning centers, push walkers, soft texture blocks for building, books, dolls, and much more. We blow bubbles, listen to music, have dance parties, and play musical instruments to keep the children moving and learning all day long!

The children in Toddler 1 begin to grow out of the “On demand” schedule and start to follow the center’s daily schedule. The schedule provides consistency and comfort to the children as they come to know what to expect each day. Parents begin receiving a typed monthly calendar with weekly themes and planned activities to promote learning in all areas. There are theme related songs, art projects, physical activities, early science, math, sensory and much more. Feel free to check out the full description of our weekly themes and projects in our curriculum section.

We start each day…

with free play, socializing, and breakfast (if provided). Next we gather for a circle time including stories, singing, numbers, colors, letters, days of the week, discussion of the week’s theme, and much more. We then move to our daily art project, followed by some outdoor or indoor play room time. Next, we gather for lunch and move on to nap time. After nap, we have snack time and get ready for our afternoon. The children play and socialize for a while, and then we gather again for an afternoon enrichment activity. To close out the day we play with table top toys, read books, and play games.

We fill out a written Daily report for each child indicating how each child eats, how long they nap, and each diaper change. This report will also indicate if you are running low on any supplies you have provided for the baby.

Parents provide all food, drinks, diapers, wipes, tissues, bedding, extra clothes and any other personal belongings you feel your child might need throughout the day. Bottles, food, and drinks must come prepared daily from home and containers must be labeled with your child’s full name. Scotty’s provides 1% milk to the children at breakfast and lunch (unless provided from home). Each child sleeps in their own Pack n’ Play provided by Scotty’s. Bedding must come the first day your child attends weekly and will be sent home on Fridays. Our Pack n’ Plays require a fitted Pack n’ Play sheet. No blankets, crib bumpers, or any other items are permitted in cribs for children under 12 mo. A light blanket is allowed for children over 1 year old. All children are placed on their backs to sleep.

Diapers are checked and changed on an as needed basis.
