Toddler 2

The objective of our infant and toddler programs is to provide an exciting, safe environment that is reinforced with love, encouragement and praise.

Scotty’s boasts four different toddler rooms that progress by age until the children reach 3 yrs old. Each room maintains a 1:4 teacher to child ratio with a group size no larger than 8. The rooms are designed to accommodate the children’s needs and encourage each age’s skill sets and milestones.

Our Toddler 2 Room is our second toddler room at Scotty’s. When the children become sure on their feet and ready for the next step (usually between 15-20 months of age) they move up to our Toddler 2 room.

The room is full of excitement and active little children. It is set up and arranged into different areas or “centers” to provide a small amount of structure to their play time. The children enjoy playing with dolls and household items in our housekeeping area, they love to build with blocks and use cars and trucks, they enjoy puzzles, electronic learning centers, farm and animal toys, ride on toys, books, music, dancing, and much more.

The children follow the center’s daily schedule. The schedule provides consistency and comfort to the children as they know what to expect each day. Parents receive a monthly calendar with weekly themes and planned activities to promote learning in all areas. There are theme related songs, art projects, physical activities, early science, math, sensory and much more.

We start each day…

with free play, socializing, and breakfast (if provided). Next we gather for a circle time including stories, singing, numbers, colors, letters, days of the week, discussion of the week’s theme, and much more. We then move to our daily art project, followed by some outdoor or indoor play room time. Next, we gather for lunch and move on to nap time. After nap, we have snack time and get ready for our afternoon. The children play and socialize for a while, and then we gather again for an afternoon enrichment activity. To close out the day we play with table top toys, read books, and play games.

Parents receive a written and verbal daily report from their child’s teacher indicating how well the child eats, how long they napped, and each diaper change. The teachers also let parents know about some of the activities their child did that day. We will indicate in writing if you are running low on any supplies you have provided for your child.

Parents provide all food, drinks, diapers, wipes, tissues, bedding, extra clothes and any other personal belongings you feel your child might need throughout the day. Food and drinks must come in daily from home and containers and cups must be labeled with your child’s full name. Scotty’s provides 1% milk to the children at breakfast and lunch (unless provided from home). Each child sleeps on their own cot provided by Scotty’s. Bedding must come the first day your child attends weekly and will be sent home on Fridays. Our cots require a fitted full size crib sheet. A light blanket is allowed for children over 1 year old. All children are placed on their backs to sleep.

Diapers are checked and changed on an as needed basis.
